The earliest of these were microscopic, planispirally coiled, and evolute; later forms evolved a diversity of shapes including lenticular, globular, and elongated rice-shaped forms.The only previous detailed biostratigraphy of the Pennsylvanian section in the Manzanita Mountains is by Myers, 1988a, Myers, 1988b based on fusulinids, including some data from the Cedro Peak section. Our algal and foraminiferal levels permit us to confirm and determine more precise ages.The described fusulinids of the Moscovian Stage are found in the Asad-Abad section of the Sanandaj-Sirjan tectonic zone of Iran.
